Weatherby manufactured his rifles for many years at his small facility in South Gate, California, until 1956, when he contracted with Sako to continue building his firearms based on the Weatherby-FN Mauser actions. Weatherby still produced some custom rifles in South Gate following this contract.
“We wanted to move to a state where we can grow into our brand. Wyoming means new opportunities. We are not interested in maintaining; we are growing.”
Why is Weatherby so expensive? Weatherby rifles are often seen as premium firearms due to their exceptional craftsmanship, high-quality materials, and meticulous attention to detail. The use of premium wood and finishes, along with precision engineering, contributes to their higher price point.
And, as Adam Weatherby discovered immediately, Wyoming doesn't simply tolerate the 2nd Amendment to our Constitution, they support it openly and passionately. California's distain for American's constitutional right to keep and bear arms wasn't the only reason Weatherby left. It was the biggest one though.
The Weatherby Mark V Hunter delivers a genuine Mark V action, a good stock with modern ergonomics, durable coatings, and good accuracy—all at a price that's below any other Mark V. It's a high-quality hunting rifle that will outlast you.
