🌟 Exciting Webinar Experience 🌟I had the privilege of attending a thought-provoking webinar on "Developing Energy Systems in Different Sports" by the esteemed speaker Arpan Chanda. It was truly enlightening to delve into the intricate dynamics of energy management across various athletic disciplines.Arpan Chanda's insights were practical, providing a deep dive into how different sports require tailored approaches to optimize energy systems. His expertise illuminated the importance of strategic training and nutrition in enhancing athletic performance, shedding light on cutting-edge methodologies that are shaping the future of sports science.I'm grateful for the opportunity to have learned from such a knowledgeable speaker and look forward to implementing these learnings in my own professional journey. Thank you to the organizers for facilitating this enriching experience!#SportsScience #EnergySystems #Webinar #ProfessionalDevelopment #AthleticPerformance #LearningAndDevelopment

What a pleasure it was to talk with @jasonkoop on his Podcast -KoopCast- about weighted vest training for trail running (https://lnkd.in/eeYrbNj6).We discussed a paper recently published together with @tonocarton @silviacardiel @albertorubio21 and @leroche85 where we applied 3 different load conditions (0%, +5% BW, and 10% BW) to determine their to determine their effects on running kinematics (https://lnkd.in/eAGM5ytZ).Of note, we observed a dose-response relationship for Leg Stiffness when highly-trained trail runners carried an additional +5% BW. This finding appears to provide a specific approach to training for stimulating Leg Stiffness in long-distance runners.Conversely, running with an extra +10% BW seems to compromise running performance, as it negatively affects most key running parameters due to the added load.Research into running spatiotemporal parameters has deepened our understanding of the spring-mass model and its capacity to estimate and predict kinetic and kinematic variables. However, despite the significant impact of lower-limb stiffness on athletic performance, awareness of lower-limb stiffness among coaches and practitioners remains limited.

New Milestone achieved in my academic journey! 🌟 Research Paper Published ✔ Carbon emission in football games: Footprint impact of power five conference realignment As part of my academic journey at Arizona State University, I had the unique opportunity to explore the environmental impacts of NCAA football games, particularly focusing on the carbon emissions from Power Five conference realignments. This research, conducted under the guidance of my mentor, Jiayi Hong, and my esteemed professors, Ross Maciejewski and Dr. Ronald Askin, has been a challenging yet exhilarating endeavor over the last semester. Our study, recently published in the Sustainability and Sports Science Journal, delves into the significant carbon footprint resulting from travel for football games—highlighting an almost twofold increase in emissions due to conference realignments commencing in 2024. The research presents a detailed analysis based on extensive data collection and innovative methodologies, aiming to spark a discussion on sustainable practices within collegiate sports. The collaboration with Jiayi Hong, Ross Maciejewski and Dr. Ronald Askin at ASU has been immensely rewarding. Their expertise and support have been pivotal in navigating the complexities of environmental sustainability in sports, leading to groundbreaking insights. This project not only signifies a crucial step towards understanding the environmental impacts of collegiate athletics but also underscores the potential for implementing more sustainable practices.Read our full research paper here: https://lnkd.in/g4S-zNEt#SustainabilityInSports #NCAAFootball #CarbonEmissions #ASU #ResearchImpact

I find this fascinating! A lot of the comments either include the word stupid or are simply that single word. Define stupid: "having or showing a great lack of intelligence or common sense."Now each of us can look at this video and say "That is stupid." But, we are watching this video from OUR perspective!Yes for you or I to attempt that cut would be stupid. But this man is not stupid! He is inventive! He is pushing the edge of what is possible. He demonstrated skill and control with his saw. He had a fall restraint device to prevent from falling out of the tree. The handled the top cut with care and control.Nothing about his actions based on his skill from his perspective is stupid. He is doing great work with the skills, tools and background that he has. Nothing more, nothing less. #HOP #curiosity #curiositymatters #Leadwithcuriosity #Safety #safetyofwork Jon Schmidt thought you would like this video!

It's been a long summer, hot for some, cooler for others, but also busy in the HEI sector.Whether it's analysing the initial decisions for the design of the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2028, visits to summer conferences or preparations for a major new survey, Oxentia's team have been kept on their toes. So, we've captured the latest updates in our HEI Summer Round-Up.Hamish McAlpineshares his views on REF 2028, what do some of the references in the framework mean? What did we find when taking part in PraxisAuril's#Praxis2023,andAESIS Network'sSocietal Impact of Science Conference 2023? Plus, Hamish shares an exciting announcement on a new comprehensive survey, designed to help understand how universities structure themselves in delivering high quality#knowledgeexchange, KES4. More to follow on this...Have a watch:https://bit.ly/3svqAbo, and please let us know if the Round-Up has raised any questions for you. When we're working with universities on #KnowledgeExchange strategy, they're naturally interested in how they compare to their peers in terms of KE support structure and resourcing. But there is a real lack of easily accessible, rich, comparable data in this space. Our major new survey, KES4 (KE Structures, Staffing, Systems, and Support) aims to change that. From FTEs, job roles, approaches to professional development and #EDI, to the age-old question of whether anyone has found an effective CRM system to support KEC yet, we'll be covering it. We'll be launching this major initiative for UK universities soon - check out the below and get in touch if you want to know more, or be amongst the first to receive a free, confidential report on how you compare to an anonymised group of peers.

Got a#mentalhealth,#wellbeingand/or#climatechangeproject? We have received funding from Research England tocreate a new funding pot to address this lack of information which will enable those who co-produce projects to also co-produce evaluation design. This will fund five to seven projects. Each receiving £10,000-15,000. Want to find out more? The diagram below outlines the key dates for anyone interested in applying and you can find out more details in our blog below which includes a 'How to get involved' guide for more details about each of these stages and key dates.https://lnkd.in/eWZsETvV This project is being co-produced by a team that brings together people with a diverse range of expertise and lived/living experiences who will be supporting these project including Co-production Collective core staff members, Co-producers with a range of lived experiences, UCL Evaluation Exchange, UCL Grand Challenges, Compost London and The Academy of Medical Sciences.#coproduction #research #evaluation
